Theme Song

For my multiply website I have the  theme tune: "The Lord is my Shepherd.... He restores my soul..."  Some people have asked why this is significant to me.  Simply, it was the very first piece of Scripture I ever memorized.

I was eight years old at the time and had been incarcerated in a boarding school.  This was supposed to be a great privilege, but it was more like hell on earth!  For one thing, the food was so inedible I mostly lived off potatoes and carrots for the five years I was there.  Smuggling sweets was a major preoccupation, but on my return from a rare "exeat" with my parents, I was caught by the Matron.  My punishment?  Memorize the whole of Psalm 23!

Although I hated it at the time, what Matron meant for evil, God used for good!  This Psalm 23 has been a source of great strength and encouragement to me ever since.  Even in that school environment, God spoke to me that He was with me.  And He has never left me nor forsaken me throughout all the intervening years.  He is truly a shepherd and a loving Father who sticks with you through thick and through thin - a constant source of strength and encouragement.
