Ignition point

Here's a "heads up" - Rice Broocks is about to launch a new website under the title "Ignition".  Without stealing any of his thunder, as he was sharing this idea today it reminded me of a catalytic moment in my own life when something in me came alive as a result of a spark from someone else.

I was 23 at the time and had been a "yoyo" Christian for four years.  One day when I was visiting Cape Town I met a little old lady who was known by everyone as "Granny Klopper".  She was 93 years old at the time and had been saved at the age of 4 under the ministry of John G Lake.  I remember that she walked up to me, laid hands on me and began to pray with a passion I had never heard.  Then she looked at me and said, "Michael, God has a great calling on your life".

This simple act was a powerful moment in my life that gave me the hope that somehow this was possible and that my life really could make a difference.  For the first time I began to take my faith seriously and understood the reality of a calling.  Within a year I had taken a decision I would not have previously considered - to get out of my comfort zone of following a career in law in the UK and moved to South Africa because that it where I believe God had called me.

Without this "ignition", I doubt that I would ever have pursued a calling to ministry.  I doubt I would have been more than a nominal pew sitter.  It took a moment to ignite in my life a passion for God that is still burning brightly in my heart today.

We need to understand the power of the moments that we can spend calling out the potential and the capacity in the up-and-coming generation of young people.  Do not underestimate the influence you can have in releasing life time, world changing callings and destinies in lives of people that others might consider insignificant.
